- Outside of hospitals, a physician must be approved by the College in order to perform or supervise a diagnostic or treatment procedure that is restricted to facilities accredited by the College.
- A list of restricted procedures is maintained in College bylaws.
- A physician who performs acupuncture on patients must provide satisfactory evidence of training and be approved by the Registrar.
- A physician who performs hair transplantation must provide evidence of training and compliance with infection prevention and control standards and be approved by the Registrar.
The CPSA Standards of Practice are the minimum standards of professional behaviour and ethical conduct expected of all physicians registered in Alberta. Standards of practice are enforceable under the Health Professions Act and will be referenced in the management of complaints and in discipline hearings. About the CPSA Standards of Practice
