Possible phone scam: physicians asked for personal information for a supposed complaint

Latest News Archive, Professionalism & Standards | Posted July 10, 2020

CPSA has learned of a possible scam in which physicians are being contacted by phone, told there is a medical legal complaint against them and are asked to provide personal information such as names and phone numbers.

CPSA does not notify physicians of complaints by phone. If a complaint is filed against a physician, we will provide notification in writing via CPSA’s secure Physician Portal. Find out more about our complaints process.

We don’t know why this information is being collected but ask that all physicians be diligent when asked to provide personal information. If you receive such a call and want to confirm it is not a CPSA matter, please contact Sharon Barron, Director of Professional Conduct, at 780-969-4951.
