A note from our new Registrar – Dr. Scott McLeod

Dina Baras CPSA, Messenger

It is with tremendous pleasure I write my very first communication as CPSA Registrar.

I would be remiss if I didn’t first thank Dr. Trevor Theman for his outstanding leadership to the CPSA over the past 12 years as Registrar. Under his guidance, the College has gained a national and international reputation as a shining example of how a professional college should function. He has also built an incredibly strong team that believes in the College’s mandate and works hard to advance our mission to protect the public and ensure trust by guiding the medical profession.

“Dr. Theman had two simple goals for the organization: to be a great place to work, and to be the best medical regulator in the world. I see absolutely no reason to change those goals.”

As I’m sure many of you read in his last “Trevor’s Take”, Dr. Theman had two simple goals for the organization: to be a great place to work, and to be the best medical regulator in the world. I see absolutely no reason to change those goals.

My background in the Canadian Armed Forces healthcare system will likely see me approach things from a different perspective, but that doesn’t mean you’ll see any massive change to how the College does business.

Because I believe it is essential to have regular communication with our members, I will be working with CPSA communications staff to develop a new approach to “Trevor’s Take” over the next few months. Two things you will likely hear about from me are: building physician leadership in Alberta, and engaging physicians in the health system.

I look forward to working with everyone over the coming years.
